Call for Abstracts
Poster presentations are an integral component of ISSX meetings. We encourage all those involved in the fields of metabolism, pharmacology, toxicology, molecular biology and other related disciplines to consider submitting an abstract for a poster presentation at the ISSX/MDO 2022 Meeting to be held in Seattle, Washington, September 11-14, 2022.
Deadline, Scoring, and Notification
Deadline:
○ The Second Call for Abstracts closed at 11:59 pm ET on Sunday, July 24, 2022.
○The First Call for General and Poster Award Competition Call for Abstracts closed at 11:59 pm ET on Sunday, June 26, 2022.
Scoring:
All General Call submissions will be scored on the following criteria:
Is the work appropriate for the ISSX/MDO 2022 Meeting? The abstract should be complete and the information contained should represent the high quality expected of abstracts accepted for ISSX and MDO meetings. The reviewer is asked to ensure that the material presented is accurate and that the statements and analyses made are correct and logically consistent.
Is the work important to the ISSX and MDO community? The abstract should present information which is useful to other xenobiotic researchers, whether they be faculty, industry colleagues, or students.
Is the work original? Abstracts accepted for the meeting must be previously unpublished.
In addition to the criteria above, all Poster Award Competition Call submissions will be scored on the following criteria:
Significance of research problem
Experimental approach
Soundness of conclusions
Clarity of presentation
Notification: Primary authors for the first call were contacted by email with acceptance information on Friday, July 15, 2022. Primary authors for the second call will be contacted by email by Wednesday, August 3, 2022.
Submission Categories
It is a requirement that at least one author named in the abstract be a current, paid ISSX member. To obtain a login or to join ISSX, please complete the membership application at www.issx.org/membership. To renew your membership, please visit www.issx.org/renew. By submitting an abstract you must confirm that if your abstract is accepted, you will attend the ISSX/MDO 2022 Meeting.
General Abstract Submissions: This is now closed for poster presentation at the meeting.
Poster Awards Competition: This competition is now closed. Open to predoctoral (graduate students) and postdoctoral fellows, this submission category is your opportunity to compete cash prizes and special recognition at the meeting. Six finalists from both categories will be selected to present their posters during a special poster viewing session at the meeting. First, second, and third place awards will be presented at the Poster Competition Awards Presentation session held during the meeting.
Please note: If your abstract is not accepted for the Poster Awards Competition, it will then automatically be reviewed as a general abstract submission. You do not need to submit an abstract more than once.
Abstract Submission Guidelines
Presenting Author: Please provide all required information for the presenting author including a valid email address. A presenter must be identified in order for abstracts to be considered.
Additional Authors: Enter all additional authors in the order they should appear in the program. The abstract submission form will guide you through the process of entering the author(s) information.
Please note: Do not include the author information in the body of the abstract. At least one author listed must be either a member of ISSX or your abstract will not be reviewed.
Keyword: For each submission, indicate an abstract topic (e.g. primary keyword), provide complete presenter contact information, and include the abstract text.
Title: Type the abstract title using ALL UPPERCASE LETTERS. All abstracts must be in English - the official language of the 22nd North American ISSX Meeting.
Abstract Body: The abstract text should be typed single-spaced and may not exceed 500 words (350 to 400 words is preferred). Type the text as one paragraph. All references included in the text should be numbered and accompanied by the full citation, including author’s names, title, journal name, volume, number, inclusive paging, and year of publication.
Abstract Content: Abstracts must describe previously unpublished work. Abstracts previously published for other domestic or international meetings cannot be accepted. If the abstract is about metabolism/disposition/mode of action of the compound, then the chemical name or a partial structure must be included. If the compound causes a well-characterized biological response that is independent of structure (for example, compounds are a general inhibitor of some process, like apoptosis or chaperone function and structure is unrelated to the central theme), it is acceptable to include it with only the generic name. Abstracts should include a statement of hypothesis, methods used, supporting data, results and conclusions. Abstracts found to be lacking in sufficient clarity, relation to the meeting topic areas, or scientific content may be rejected.
Review: Preparation of the abstract should be rigorous and the abstract checked for errors and accuracy before submission. Errors in the submitted abstract cannot be corrected once the abstract is accepted. Errors can be corrected in the poster, so the whole set of data and information presented is accurate.
